Who we are
My Story
I live in Seattle, surrounded by rain, mountains, and a community of people who thrive on curiosity and creativity. By day, I work in science and conservation — the kind of work that keeps you grounded in the real world. But art has always been my balance. I started making shirts years ago as a way to say the quiet parts out loud — clever, sarcastic, sometimes a little rebellious — and people connected with that honesty. It wasn’t about fashion; it was about expression.
The Evolution of the Brand
What began as Blue Thread Collective has grown into a creative experiment in identity and storytelling. Blue Thread is moody, artistic, and rooted in Pacific Northwest grit — the fog, the bridges, the quiet resilience. Sunny Hill Apparel, on the other hand, was born out of curiosity: what happens when you take that same wit and wrap it in sunlight instead of storm clouds? It’s still sarcastic, still bold, but a little warmer, a little brighter — a reminder that humor and hope can coexist.
Where It’s Headed
Both brands are part of the same creative ecosystem: art that doesn’t take itself too seriously but still means something. I design every piece myself, from the sketches to the final prints, using quality fabrics and ethical print partners. My goal is to keep growing this as a community of people who find joy in the details — the small, smart, sometimes snarky things that make life (and your wardrobe) a little more interesting.
